Painting from Love

This series of images, portraits, exhibiting innocence and youthful frivolity represent paintings of love; the love of painting as a medium and tool employed to express human love.

Kuperstein observes the human reality that is close to her and wants to immortalize it and transform it into a presence of plastic reality; capturing a sweet moment that will mellow with time to become a sweet memory. The images that she chooses to paint are family members or others close to her heart. She creates an embracing environment with her studious realistic sketches and paintings and tries to transmit an almost photographic truth interlaced with her emotional truth. Her choice of images is a personal choice; these are figures with whom she wants to spend time while she is painting, she wants to focus on her portraits and to paint them close to their familiar image, a sort of representation of reality.

Using chalk or oil tints she paints realistic portraits and yet leaves a painting that radiates softness; plastic softness, the softness of age and softness of expression. Her painting of a grandchild, expresses her fierce desire to enjoy their company, to stay with him and to remain with the image of his portrait. Kuperstein looks at reality, as if she knows that time is passing; this face will mature and alter, but she can fix it with a brush and color, forever capturing these magical moments.

Kuperstein’s decision to paint realistic portraits of figures close to her heart in an era, when this can be achieved with a click of the camera, is her special statement. The figures immortalized in her paintings were not taken from observing reality, assuming that these children did not serve as models for her. The artist stretches the moment that is frozen in photography and brings it to the canvas where she recreates and revives the portrait anew, so that each soft brush stroke is seen as a sort of caress.

Through her love of painting that has become her main field of work, she expresses emotions of warmth and connection, she creates a special bond by speaking in the language of love (the language of painting) with and about the beloved image. She deals with the reality, with the familiar image, and recreates a reality and presence of one particular moment, this moment of youth, of the child that will grow, which is also the moment of her painting, a moment of contentment.

The soft strokes of the brush, the delicate pastel shades, a central image with an expression of innocence and youthful frivolity – the soft touches of an artist, who paints out of love.
